ICSE Class 10 Physics Work, Power and Energy

Work, Power and Energy is the second chapter as per the ICSE Physics Class 10 Syllabus and similarly, like the chapter Force you can expect both numerical and subjective questions from this chapter. The numerical are based on scenarios, principles and examples. The subjective questions are in the form of definitions, short answers and opinions.

My relentless pursuit to search for the best electronic resources on Force, Work, Power and Energy offered a wide range of online results, however, I wanted to add such resources that are completely free and equally add value to learning. After evaluating the resources on their intent and their content I have hand-picked below materials and have added them for this topic: Force, Work, Power and Energy. The resources include videos, external links to e-Learning websites, book solutions and sample papers. To my understanding, these resources are creatively built and they serve their purpose very well, especially the reviews/ comments posted on these resources are gratifying, so I feel it is worth sharing with all of you by adding them to my blog.

ðŸ’¥ICSE Physics Class 10 Syllabus on Force Work, Power and Energy💥
💥Work, energy, power and their relation with force - Definition of work. W FS = cosθ; special cases of θ = 0°, 90°. W= mgh. Definition of energy, energy as work done. Various units of work and energy and their relation with SI units. [erg, calorie, kW h and eV]. Definition of Power, P=W/t; SI and cgs units; other units, kilowatt (kW), megawatt (MW) and gigawatt (GW); and horse power (1hp=746W).
*[Simple numerical problems on work, power and energy].
💥Different types of energy (e.g. chemical energy, Mechanical energy, heat energy, electrical energy, nuclear energy, sound energy, light energy) - Mechanical energy: potential energy U = mgh (derivation included) gravitational PE, examples; kinetic energy K= ½ mv2 (derivation included); forms of kinetic energy: translational, rotational and vibrational - only simple examples.
*[Numerical problems on K and U only in case of translational motion]; qualitative discussions of electrical, chemical, heat, nuclear, light and sound energy, conversion from one form to another; common examples.
💥Machines as force multipliers; load, effort, mechanical advantage, velocity ratio and efficiency - Functions and uses of simple machines: Terms- effort E, load L, mechanical advantage MA = L/E, velocity ratio VR = VE/VL = dE / dL, input (Wi), output (Wo), efficiency (η), relation between η and MA, VR (derivation included) load. Simple treatment of levers - Lever: principle. First, second and third class of levers; examples: MA and VR in each case. Examples of each of these classes of levers as also found in the human body. Pulley systems showing the utility of each type of machine - Pulley system: single fixed, single movable, block and tackle; MA, VR and η in each case.
💥Principle of Conservation of energy - Statement of the principle of conservation of energy; theoretical verification that U + K = constant for a freely falling body. Application of this law to simple pendulum (qualitative only); *[simple numerical problems].

🙂Resources On Work, Power and EnergY🙂

Visual learning has become a popular form of learning and today, it is considered to be more productive than the traditional form of learning because no other medium can be more appealing and effective as a video and likewise, the first resource which I have included are videos on Force, Work, Power and Energy. The below videos are well crafted as per the topics mentioned in ICSE Physics Class 10 syllabus and to suit a larger audience the videos are in HindiThere is a saying which goes “A thousand teachers, a thousand methods” so similarly, each video posted below has a different approach, teaching methods are unique and lucid in their own way. The topics mentioned in the syllabus are precisely covered with conceptual learning but a small drawback would be that the videos are quite lengthy and I would highly recommend that you keep a pen and notebook handy so that you note down all the necessary points while watching the video.

💥The first two videos from Alakh Pandey and I would like to keep my readers apprised that Alakh Pandey is a popular YouTuber, he runs a free coaching channel - Physics Wallah on YouTube with 2 million-plus subscribers. Alakh has become a popular figure among students not just in India but in other countries like Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The first video is on ForceMoment of Force, Centre of Gravity Circular motion and the second video is on Work, Power, and Energy. There are a lot of elements that add life to the subject, on completion of each topic, you will see him solving previous year ICSE board question papers so that you get an idea what sort of questions can be expected from the relevant topics.
